C20th Film Archive

The impact of seeing the history in the printed word, such as when you view the Magna Carta, can make you stir to your very core but when you see moving images it has an equal if not more, profound effect.

When these rolls of film were discovered in a basement, lttle did the people who found them know what they were or the effect they would have .

The films depict life at the turn of the C2oth . It just makes you stop and wonder about the people you are seeing. Each individual had a family, work, a sense of humour, happiness and sadness in their lives. It makes for very poignant viewing.

These films allow us a glimpse of life that we can only imagine until now.

The British Film Institue and the Mitchell and Kenyon Collection allow yourself to be drawn into the experience
